Charlotte Spades Gone Wild

Cookout Spades Format- 11am JJ2A, 3pm Ace High, 7pm Ace High

Registration for each event ends 10 minutes before start time of the tournament.

11am- Each team will play 5 games. Team with the best record wins the tournament. In case of a tie, teams will play a game to 350 to break the tie.

3am- each team will play 5 games. After the 5 games, there will be an 8 team single elimination playoff

7pm- Double elimination Bracket play. 

 

Game Play

  1. First team to 300 points, wins 
  2. Bid Every Hand
  3. Bid w/ partner (One person opens and one person closes)
  4. Opener can ONLY give their bid. No other talking. Automatic board bid if you do.
  5. Must bid at least board 
  6. Board is 4
  7. Locked bid. (once you bid there is no going up or down)
  8. 2 Sets is Game
  9. Bid 10 +/-150 points
  10. Spades can lead at anytime.
  11. Winning any hand during any match with a Boston is not game. Bidding a Boston is game.
  12. You are NOT allowed to say "a possible"
  13. A Card laid is a card played.
  14. Exposing a card out of turn is a automatic set

 Dealing

  1. First Diamond deals to start a new game
  2. 2 Square cuts. Must cut 4 or more cards.
  3. Dealer must get last card or the hand will be considered a misdeal
  4. Dealer cannot flip any cards
  5. Dealer can NOT show bottom card before or while dealing. 
  6. Players can NOT pick up their hand until the dealer is finished dealing.
  7. No spades + no face cards = Bad Luck (you still have to play)
  8. You must count your cards once the dealer is finished dealing. If you are missing a card at the end of the hand then you are set.

 

Cheating

  1. Renege = Automatic Game
  2. Reneges must be called as soon as its noticed. (Do NOT wait til the end of the hand) 
  3. Must notify staff when calling a renege
  4. If calling a renege, you do not have to choose the specific book. You can flip all books over. However, if you are wrong then you are set.
  5. Talking across the board = set
  6. Any team caught cheating will be disqualified
  7. No phones on the table top. (No points are taken for this rule)
  8. No discussing current or future strategies 

Miscellaneous

  1. Books must stay separated thru the entire hand
  2. All books should be placed in order won. No mixing of the books.
  3. All hands must be played out no matter how many books have been bid
  4. One person from each team must record the score
  5. No Blinds
  6. No Nil
  7. No Bags

 

Decisions will be made by the facilitator of the tournament.

  1. Game is considered started once both teams sit down 
  2. No getting up from the table once game is started


No Disrespect is allowed!!! If the tournament host deems your behavior or words as disrespectful, you WILL be asked to leave and can not return.
